After being welcomed at reception, you will be asked to fill in a standard questionnaire. This will give your chiropractor an overview of your current health situation During the consultation you will be asked about your complaint, lifestyle and medical history.
A full examination including chiropractic, orthopaedic and neurological tests will be done. Following the examination you will be given an explanation of findings where your diagnosis is explained to you using charts and models so that you fully understand your problem.
Provided the condition is suitable for chiropractic care a personal treatment plan, agreeable to the patient, will be recommended. You will also be given advice on the best ways to ease and control the pain.
The initial consultation and examination could take up to an hour. If your chiropractor identifies an underlying condition he will refer you back to your GP for further investigation.
Therapy is designed to restore the normal range of movement to the joints, relax muscle spasm and relieve strain on ligaments. Treatment mainly involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation and soft tissue work/massage to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Ice or heat may be recommended. Chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including:

- Acupuncture (Dry Needling) treatment
- Activator Instrument (for gentle mobilisation)
